INDIANAPOLIS – With less than a month until the track and field events begin at the Games of the XXXIII Olympic Games in Paris, USATF has released the list of more than 100 athletes who will compete at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.
USATF teams have dominated the medal count at the past two World Athletics Championships, winning a total of 33 medals, including 12 gold, at the Oregon 22 and 29 medals at last summer’s Budapest Games. American athletes finished atop the medal table at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021, too, grabbing 26, seven of them gold.
Four reigning Olympic champions lead the U.S. roster, with two-time shot put gold medalist and world record holder Ryan Crouser heading the men\’s team and 400 hurdles world record holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone coming off her fifth world record to top the women\’s entrants. Katie Moon is the reigning women’s pole vault champion, and Valarie Allman will compete for her second consecutive gold medal in the women’s discus.
Last year at the World Championships in Budapest, Noah Lyles won the 100 and 200 meters and also helped the U.S. win the 4×100 relay. He is once again the favorite to finish on the podium in both individual events and will be a key player in the relay. Other individual gold medalists from Budapest to Paris include Krauser and Moon and women’s 100m champion ShaKarrie Richardson. Richardson took 200 bronze and supported a combination of USATF gold at 4×100.
The World Champion of Grant Hollowei Trekreno is 110, and may have set up his first Olympic gold place in the gaution of men who have earned money in Tokyo and 12.86 victory in the Olympic Yujin test. yeah. Chase Jackson, the American record holder who has won the last two world titles in the women’s shot put, is seeking gold in his Olympic debut.
Other medalists returning from Tokyo include American record holder in the men’s 400 hurdles, Ry Benjamin, who won silver in the historic race in Tokyo with an AR of 46.17. Benjamin won the trials in a world record time of 46.46 points, with sprint stars Fred Curley and Kenny Bednarek also threatening for gold in the 100m and 200m. Curley won the World 100 title at Oregon 22, while Bednarek dropped his 200 PR to 19.59 at the trials and was the silver medalist at Oregon 22.
Combined race riders Joe Kovacs and Chris Nilsen have plenty of international experience, with Kovacs having two world titles. Kovacs, who holds this year’s men’s shot put record (23.13 seconds), is the second-best thrower of all time behind Krauser, having won two silver medals at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo Olympics. Nielsen won silver medals in the pole vault at the 2016 Tokyo Olympics and Oregon 22. SAKENS SONDERS became the Tokyo Silver Medalist’s Tokyo Silver Medalist and finished fifth in Rio in 2016.
Gabbi Thomas was a medalist of 200 tablets in Budapest last fall and won bronze in Tokyo. She ran the fastest time in the world this year, a 21.78 in the semifinals of the trials, and her 21.60 PB makes her the second fastest American ever and fourth on the list world of artists of all time.
