While I haven’t had the chance to attend a game in the Big House, I’ve been in Ann Arbor on most game days over the past two years, and as a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the game day atmosphere with Michigan Wolverines fans is a little louder than the Alabama Crimson Tide and takes up a lot more space.
It’s hard to admit, but I’ve said the same thing to several Alabama alumni and fans: Wolverine fans know how to have fun on game day. But this year’s Big Ten is much bigger. Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington bring another element to the conference, on and off the court.
It might have once been easier to say that Michigan had one of the best game days in the conference, but will that be true in the new conference format.
The sportsbook recently ranked the Big Ten teams to rank each program based on their pregame experience. Bookie looked at the location or proximity of the fun to the stadium, the quality of the tailgating, the entertainment options around the stadium, and the family safety factor
Of course, Michigan Stadium sits in a mostly residential area across campus from downtown Ann Arbor while still a comfortable drive from the shopping areas around State St and Eisenhower Pkwy near I-94. Still, Michigan gets a high score in location because a considerable amount of tailgating is at Pioneer High School and the university golf course across from the stadium. However, most other tailgating locations aren\’t particularly close to the stadium at all.
If you can find somewhere to tailgate, you\’re going to have a great time. Unfortunately, because Ann Arbor is a very populated city, most of the tailgating areas are already restricted, so be prepared to consult your wallet to secure a spot.
You can still enjoy downtown Ann Arbor and the shopping district near Eisenhower Parkway. There are excellent bars and local restaurants, and there is a wild party between the pack cards.
Two of the four new teams scored in the upper half, and the other two teams scored in the lower half. No. 7 Oregon and No. 5 Washington bring a high-quality pregame atmosphere to the conference, making them interesting to watch for anyone who travels to interconference games.
No. 14 USC and No. 16 UCLA understandably haven’t had great results. There’s a lot to do in Los Angeles, but it’s not all about the program.
Sure, Michigan Stadium is in a mostly residential area across from the campus in downtown Ann Arbor, but it’s also easily accessible from the shopping areas around State Street and Eisenhower Parkway near Interstate 94.
Nevertheless, Michigan receives a high score there. This is because there are a lot of rear doors on the pioneon school on the other side of the stadium and the university golf course. Nevertheless, most of the other places in the rear part are generally near the stadium. If you can find it somewhere, you can have a good time at the back door.
Unfortunately, Most of the zones on the back door have already been considered because Anne Albol is a tightly packed city. Therefore, you are ready to get a place to talk to your wallet.
Instead, you can always enjoy downtown Ann Arbor or the shopping district near Eisenhower Parkway. There are great local bars and restaurants, and in between, wild parties take place along Packard Street.
Again, the problem is that most of the entertainment and food are located far from the stadiums. On match days, security isn’t much of a concern, apart from the absurd masses of humanity taking over the streets. Despite drivers’ concerns, pedestrians are well looked after, while the stadium is empty.
Additionally, there is a clear distinction between places where families will have a good time enjoying the gaming activities and places where party-goers will have a good time alone.
Unfortunately, the average places the Wolverines below Ohio State in this regard. The back is second. At the same time, it was the honor of the best rear door. Nevertheless, OSU was considered an elderly third security player, so there is something t
o be proud of.
