“While I was working hard on my recovery at a clinic in Argentina, I had no idea that my friends and the producers of this record were reaching out to so many great artists to have them do versions of my songs,” Malin said. “When I heard these versions, especially ‘She Don’t Love Me Now,’ it took me out of a dark time. I felt excited about life again, in a way that only music can do.”

Springsteen and Jesse Malin have performed together multiple times over the years, primarily at the annual Light of Day Parkinson’s benefit in Asbury Park. The Boss appears on the 2007 Malin track “Broken Radio.”

 

Two benefit concerts for Malin will take place Dec. 1 and 2 at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. Malin and his band will play along with Lucinda Williams, Jakob Dylan, the Hold Steady, Rickie Lee Jones, Danny Clinch scheduled to perform. Proceeds will go toward Malin’s Sweet Relief fund.
