Nick Saban, the legendary head coach of Alabama, announced his retirement back in January 2024, after 17 incredible seasons with the Crimson Tide ¹.

At 72 years young, Saban felt it was time to step away from the game, citing changes in college football, particularly with the transfer portal and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals, as factors in his decision ¹.

Under Saban’s leadership, Alabama won seven national championships, with six of those titles coming during his tenure.

He’s widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches in college football history, with a remarkable 201-29 record at Alabama ¹.

Saban’s retirement marked the end of an era, but his legacy will live on. He’s not only an iconic coach but also a mentor and leader who helped shape the lives of countless student-athletes.

As Alabama Athletic Director Greg Byrne put it, “Nick Saban is one of the greatest coaches of all time, in any sport” ¹.
