Tennessee could indeed face potential NCAA sanctions depending on the outcome of ongoing investigations or violations related to its athletic programs, particularly if parallels are drawn to recent cases involving Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, or other schools penalized for compliance failures. The NCAA has been increasingly strict about enforcing its rules in the wake of NIL policies, recruiting violations, and improper benefits.

At Vanderbilt, the Commodores’ football program faced scrutiny for alleged recruiting infractions, while Texas A&M’s Aggies were reportedly investigated for their role in potential inducements tied to NIL collectives. If Tennessee’s athletic department has committed violations in similar areas, the NCAA could initiate proceedings, possibly leading to sanctions such as scholarship reductions, postseason bans, or financial penalties.

For Tennessee, the focus might be on ensuring proper oversight, especially after previous issues like the 2020 football recruiting scandal that involved impermissible benefits under former head coach Jeremy Pruitt. As the NCAA increasingly shifts its enforcement to prioritize integrity and accountability, Tennessee must demonstrate compliance or risk becoming the next high-profile program sanctioned.
