Newcastle United are in a slump under Eddie Howe, unable to reclaim the form that propelled them into the Premier League’s top four last season.

Two recent defeats against teams vying for top-flight survival have added to the Magpies’ difficult festive schedule. And now Newcastle United is at a crossroads, which could result in some decisive actions from PIF, potentially involving surprising decisions.

According to reports, the club may consider selling a specific star in early 2024, despite Eddie Howe’s strong support for the player.

Newcastle United’s shortcomings during the summer transfer window were exacerbated by the struggles of the newcomers. Sandro Tonali is serving a lengthy ban for betting rule violations, Harvey Barnes is still injured, Lewis Hall is out of favor, and Tino Livramento is the only one establishing a place under Howe, reflecting a disappointing window.

As previously stated, significant changes may be on the horizon in 2024, with potentially ruthless decisions in the works. This includes the possibility of Newcastle selling Callum Wilson in January, which has proven to be an unexpected decision.

The 31-year-old forward, who has been plagued by injuries, is not getting any younger, prompting speculation about his departure, despite the fact that Eddie Howe is a big fan of his.

With Alexander Isak approaching his prime, Newcastle may part ways with Wilson to make room for the Swede. However, caution is advised, as demonstrated by former forward Chris Wood, who scored a hat-trick for Nottingham Forest in their recent Premier League match against Newcastle at St James’ Park.
