Their seventh-place result in the Premier League will be a huge disappointment after facing Dortmund, AC Milan, and PSG in the Champions League group stages last season. However, Eddie Howe still has credit in the bank and will be given the opportunity to quickly return the team to the continental picture.

A right winger is thought to be a top priority for Howe this summer, with Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise being a suspected target.

Is Chiesa more realistic than Olise?

Despite their Saudi wealth, Newcastle face a tricky situation when it comes to Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) this summer. There is a very real prospect that they will have to sell to bankroll any new signings, with midfielder Bruno Guimaraes attracting interest from Manchester City.

Given all of this, it’s quite probable they’ll be priced out of a move for Olise.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Newcastle has Chiesa as a backup plan if they are unable to get Olise.

Chiesa is expected to cost half as much as Olise, especially since his current deal in Turin is coming to an end.

Even yet, a move for the 26-year-old would be considered exceedingly audacious by Newcastle.

Chiesa joined Juventus in 2020 after starring for Fiorentina, and he has since scored 32 goals in 131 games across all competitions, including two Coppa Italia titles.

The attacker is also a 48-time Italy international, having scored seven goals and helped his country win the European Championships in 2021.

Chiesa most recently shined in Italy’s 2-1 Euro 2024 opener against Albania on Saturday, completing a match-high four dribbles and generating two chances.
