The Chiefs’ Multi-Million Rand Bid

According to sources close to Kaizer Chiefs, the club is ready to give Sekhukhune United R12 million for forward Elias Mokwana. According to one source, “That is what the Chiefs are offering.” Yes, R12 million. However, Sekhukhune United values him locally at roughly R15 million due to the current economic scenario.

The source went on to say that his international market value is between R25 million and R30 million. However, Chiefs are bargaining based on local conditions.

Ongoing negotiations

A second source acquainted with the negotiations reveals that talks have moved forward since Kaizer first indicated interest in the former Platinum City Rovers star.

“Negotiations are underway. Kaizer are interested, despite queries from Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns. We anticipate positive developments in the coming days as the Chiefs prepare for their pre-season camp in Europe, hoping to include the player,” says the insider.

MOKWANAS’ AGENTS’ PERSPECTIVE

When asked for a remark, Elias Mokwana’s agent, Pontsho Madumo, stressed their role in the negotiation process for personal terms rather than the transfer money.

“Our engagement is based on the player’s terms. Not the actual transfer price. Elias is on a long-term contract with Sekhukhune United. And his worth has skyrocketed since joining the national squad,” Madumo says.

Madumo goes on to say, “His path from obscurity to becoming a Bafana Bafana player has sparked widespread interest. Which is evident in the inquiries we receive.”

Kaizer Chiefs’ pursuit of Elias Mokwana demonstrates their desire to bolster the squad. And compete at the best level in the coming season. As negotiations develop, all eyes are on Chiefs as they navigate the challenges of securing their goal in the face of intense competition from other top clubs.

Chiefs have not always been enthusiastic about investing extensively in local talent. However, they may have finances if Ashley Du Preez leaves for Europe. Teams around Europe are actively looking for ways to help him advance to the top levels of world football. And it looks like the Chiefs will have a busy window.
