Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever’s rookie, continues to perform as advertised on WNBA courts, etching her name in history books. Clark dished up 19 assists in a 101-93 loss against the Dallas Wings, the most by a single player in WNBA history.
Clark broke Courtney Vandersloot’s record of 18 assists for the Chicago Sky in a 100-77 win over the Fever on August 31, 2020.
“I just try to set my teammates up for success,” Clark explained following the game. “I believe I can almost overpass… I’m really interested in setting up AB [Aliyah Boston]. “My focus is always on our post players.”
Clark had 24 points, six rebounds, and 19 assists. Overall, she scored or assisted on 66 points, the most by any player in a single WNBA game. Diana Taurasi established the previous record of 65 points in 2006.
However, Clark’s momentous night did not end there. The first overall choice in the 2024 WNBA Draft became the first rookie in WNBA history to record 400 points and 200 assists in a single season, and only the ninth overall.
Clark is now averaging 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game, earning him All-Star status.
