What Deshaun Watson said About His Future With The Cleveland Browns

Entering his third season with the Cleveland Browns, Deshaun Watson had two very disappointing seasons in his first two years on the organization. After serving a one-game suspension for the first eleven games of 2022, Watson only appeared in six games, looking badly out of shape and unable to play football. Watson saw just six starts in 2023 as well, but this time it was because of a persistent shoulder issue that kept him out of a few games on occasion. Then, in mid-November, it permanently ended his season.

Following Deshaun Watson’s shoulder surgery, many Browns fans fell in love with Joe Flacco and wanted him back to be Watson’s backup in 2024. However, the Browns signed Jameis Winston in lieu of Flacco, so now everyone is wondering when Watson will be ready to play this season. At the Lefty’s Cheesesteaks opening on Thursday, Watson stated, “The shoulder is great and will be ready for Week 1 for sure.” Deshaun Watson is heading into a pivotal season, so the news that he appears ready to play in Week 1 should excite every Browns fan.

Nobody anticipated that Watson, who was sold to the Browns two years ago for a plethora of draft picks and a guaranteed $230 million, would see just 12 starts in two years, and he looked awful in the most of them. In order for the Browns to win a Super Bowl, Watson must perform at the same level as he did with the Houston Texans. The Browns have one of the greatest teams in the league. The Browns might be strong contenders in the AFC if Old Watson makes a comeback in 2024.
