The red card, which was deemed soft even by Ryan Lowe, will necessitate changes in the team’s approach in the absence of Meslier, who adds a tactical element to the team.
Meslier’s presence as a sweeper keeper in the back line allows for a formation resembling a three-man defense, allowing the full-backs to advance.
Darlow, while strong with the ball at his feet, may fall short of Meslier’s standard in this area. Meslier is expected to reclaim his starting spot when he returns from suspension.
