Leeds United are reportedly parting ways with attacker Willy Gnonto.
According to Il Romanista, the player requested to leave the English club last summer, but no deal was made.
Following a surprising turn of events, the Whites are now ready to sanction a sale in January.
Fiorentina and Lazio are both interested in acquiring his signature. Gnonto is currently valued at 15 million euros (£13 million), but the Championship club is only willing to pay £8.7 million for him.
Inter Milan are keeping an eye on Gnonto’s situation, but they are said to be “out of the way” of signing him next month.
Gnonto believes that leaving the club now is the best decision for his career. Manager Daniel Farke has given him few playing opportunities, which the players believe could jeopardize his future with his country.
The Italian footballer aspires to represent his country at Euro 2024, and in order to do so, he must play regularly in order to earn a spot in the squad.
He desperately wanted to leave the club in the summer, but the club refused to budge. The position has now shifted.
A move away from Leeds is beneficial not only to the player but also to the club. Keeping an unhappy player would be detrimental to Leeds’ chances of regaining promotion to the Premier League.
Leeds are currently fourth in the Championship, trailing only Leicester, Ipswich, and Southampton in their quest to return to England’s top flight.
