In a rare move, the NBA has issued a formal apology to Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine following a contentious two-week ban.
LaVine, a two-time All-Star and a key member of the Bulls, was first punished for what the NBA termed as “conduct detrimental to the team.”
However, the decision to suspend the high scoring guard drew strong criticism from fans, commentators, and even teammates, igniting extensive debate about the league’s disciplinary procedures.
NBA spokesperson Mark Tatum recognised that the suspension may have been given hastily, without a thorough understanding of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
