The Windy City Bulls, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, were narrowly defeated by the Grand Rapids Gold, 124-121, in a rematch on Sunday. Despite the loss, Windy City had a strong offensive showing with five players reaching double figures, including three who scored over 20 points and one who topped 30. Guard Javon Freeman-Liberty led the way with 32 points and six assists. DJ Steward, the Chicago Bulls’ two-way guard, contributed 25 points, six assists, and a remarkable 62% shooting from the field. Two-way forward/center Adama Sanogo posted another double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds.
Windy City started hot, sinking their first four three-pointers and converting 2 of 2 from inside the arc for an early 16 points, but Grand Rapids took control in the opening quarter. The second quarter remained tight, with the Gold holding onto a slim three-point lead at halftime. In the third, guard Jordan Jackson made a pivotal steal, leading to a fast-break assist to Freeman-Liberty, who finished with a dunk to give the Bulls the lead.
