In a hard-fought game in Germany, the Carolina Panthers edged out the New York Giants in overtime, winning 20-17 on Sunday. Eddy Pineiro sealed the victory with a 36-yard field goal in overtime.

This marks the Giants’ fifth straight loss, dropping their record to 2-8. The Panthers took an early lead, going up 10-0 by halftime and appeared to be in control for most of the game.

However, the Giants rallied in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 consecutive points to tie it at 17-17. With just 1:05 left, Graham Gano’s 42-yard field goal sent the game into overtime.

However, the Giants’ momentum quickly stalled when running back Tyrone Tracy fumbled on the first play of overtime after being tackled by former Giant A’Shawn Robinson.

Panthers linebacker Josey Jewell recovered the ball, giving Carolina possession at the New York 23-yard line, where they took advantage of the short field to secure the win with a game-ending kick.

Chuba Hubbard rushed for a career-high 153 yards on 28 carries, while second-year quarterback Bryce Young played effectively, managing the game and winning his second consecutive game. Quarterback Daniel Jones made two critical interceptions.

Despite a few last-minute tries, the Giants’ offence fell short yet again, leaving them with unresolved issues when they return to the United States.

New York now has the NFL’s poorest record entering the rest of the week. Meanwhile, the Panthers, fuelled by their determined play, will relish their lengthy flight home with a well-earned victory.
