£42.5m Tottenham target is set to join Newcastle

Morgan Gibbs-White is expected to depart Nottingham Forest this summer, and Newcastle are reportedly the best-placed club to capture the gifted midfielder.

The 24-year-old joined City Ground from Wolves in 2022 for a fee of £42.5 million.

The Englishman has been a huge success at Forest, developing as the club’s finest player. Gibbs-White appeared in 37 Premier League matches this season, scoring five goals and assisting on another ten. This helped Nottingham Forest stay up, but will it be the player’s final season at the City Ground?

Forest are one of six top-flight clubs that must sell players before June 30 to comply with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations, which may force them to part ways with Gibbs-White.

Newcastle and Tottenham are interested in the 24-year-old midfielder, but journalist Dean Jones believes Newcastle is more likely to sign him than Tottenham.

The Nottingham Forest star would be an excellent addition to Eddie Howe’s side, and the Magpies manager would undoubtedly elevate his game.

Jones shared an update on Gibbs-White’s future with GIVEMESPORT, stating that Newcastle is leading the way in signing the 24-year-old star.

“Doubt continues to linger around the potential of him staying at Nottingham Forest and my hunch is that if he leaves, Newcastle would be the best-placed to sign him,” according to the writer.

“Spurs are also being connected, but I’ve heard a few whispers around Newcastle that would lead me to believe they are the minor favourites at this early point.

“He would be such an exciting signing in that Newcastle team, a fantastic player to have, gaining ground behind Isak.

“We know the priority for Newcastle is to find an attacker for the right side of the attack but I would still keep an eye on Gibbs-White and how his situation starts to open up.”
