Arsenal now ready to sign £100 million Newcastle player

Arsenal are apparently interested in signing Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes and appear willing to step up their attempts to negotiate a possible cash-plus-player deal for the Brazil international.

Guimaraes has shone during his time at St James’ Park and appears to be the type of player Mikel Arteta would like to add to his midfield trio alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, with Kai Havertz now clearly preferring a striker role despite some initial uncertainty about his best position when he first arrived.

Newcastle will undoubtedly not want to lose an important player like Guimaraes this summer, and he is protected by a £100 million release clause, which the Gunners may attempt to reduce by putting others in the deal.

That’s obviously the only way for Arsenal to make this work after spending so much money last year, and sources now suggest they may be willing to offer one of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Thomas Partey, or Eddie Nketiah in negotiations with NUFC.

It remains to be seen if Newcastle would accept that or insist on the money being paid up front, but one imagines there are players on the books at the Emirates Stadium who might enable them replace Guimaraes while still finishing the summer with a solid group.

Arsenal has also been associated with Alexander Isak at times, but such rumors have died down recently as it appears that the Magpies have no intention of letting him leave.
