Newcastle United are still looking for another defender to join Lloyd Kelly as a fresh face at St James’ Park this summer, with one target standing out above the others for many fans.

Eddie Howe will be without Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman until the New Year, so defensive reinforcements were essential for Newcastle this summer, thus the quick move to sign Lloyd Kelly once his Bournemouth contract ended.

However, when a similar bid for Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo failed, the Magpies were forced to change their strategy and are now trying to sign a new centre-back for the forthcoming season.

Newcastle are currently interested in AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori, an English defender.

AC Milan will require a price of at least £38 million to begin negotiations for Fikayo Tomori.
Tomori had previously been connected with Newcastle, and his performances against us in the Champions League last season have kept him on our wish list ever since.

According to Calciomercato, AC Milan would be willing to trade Tomori if the proper offer came in, anywhere between €40 million and €50 million (£33.8 million to £42 million), although no official proposals have been made as of yet.

The issue for Newcastle is that Tomori does not appear to be really interested in moving to Tyneside, believing that it would be a step down from where he is now.

Newcastle will struggle to land their main targets this summer.
It’s logical, given that Milan will compete in the Champions League next season, whilst Newcastle will miss out on any type of European involvement.

That is a fact that will most certainly hamper Newcastle this summer as they seek to assemble a team of Champions League-caliber players with no Champions League football to offer.

If Newcastle believe they can persuade Tomori otherwise, we’re confident they’ll give it their all, but we don’t see this one happening, which is a shame because he’d be the ideal signing.
