West Ham have approached Newcastle for their top striker

West Ham have allegedly inquired about signing Newcastle striker Callum Wilson as they look to add additional firepower to their arsenal during the summer transfer window.

Following a dismal season for the Hammers, both domestically and on the continent, David Moyes was fired, and Julen Lopetegui took over as manager.

With the summer transfer market in full swing, many West Ham fans will be looking forward to seeing some new faces and learning who their new Spanish manager plans to sign.

One critical area where they must improve is the centre forward position, as the team struggled to fill the void left by the regularly injured Michail Antonio previous season.

The Hammers have expressed interest in Newcastle’s English striker Wilson, who has one year left on his contract.

According to the article, the 32-year-old would love to stay at the club, but he may contemplate leaving if it helps him get into Gareth Southgate’s plans for the next World Cup.

Wilson scored nine goals and provided one assist for Eddie Howe’s side in 20 Premier League games last season, although he has mostly served as a backup to Alexander Isak, with the French striker seen as the star in that position moving ahead.

According to the report, the English striker is worth £18 million, which might help free up funds for Howe’s team.
