With quarterback Dak Prescott injured, backup Cooper Rush took the reins for the Dallas Cowboys in Week 10 of the 2024 NFL season, only for the team to suffer a 34-6 loss at home against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Running back Ezekiel Elliott, absent in Week 9 due to disciplinary reasons, returned to face the Eagles. However, Elliott, who lost the starting job to Rico Dowdle earlier in the season, had limited opportunities and recorded just six carries for 22 yards.
His biggest setback came when he fumbled near the Eagles’ 5-yard line on his first drive, costing the Cowboys a crucial chance to score and stalling their momentum at a pivotal moment when the game was still competitive.
Cowboys general manager Jerry Jones decided to re-sign Ezekiel Elliott in the offseason, despite his underwhelming 2022 season, his last with Dallas.
Unfortunately, the decision has been disappointing, as the 29-year-old’s performance has further declined, and there are concerns about his influence in the locker room.
Many NFL and Cowboys fans, frustrated by yet another poor showing, have expressed their dissatisfaction on social media.
One fan commented, “Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott hasn’t averaged over 3.8 yards per carry in a game since Week 1. It’s time to move on.”
