Willy Adames Commits to San Francisco Giants for Seven Years, Aims for Championships
In a significant move for the San Francisco Giants, shortstop Willy Adames has signed a seven-year, $182 million contract, marking the largest in the team’s history.
Adames, 29, expressed his enthusiasm during his introduction at Oracle Park, stating, “This is a dream come true for me. I’m thrilled to be here, I’m so excited. Hopefully we can win a few championships like you did, and that’s one of the main reasons I’m here.”
The contract includes a $22 million signing bonus and a full no-trade clause, underscoring the Giants’ commitment to Adames as a cornerstone of their future.
Adames’ arrival addresses the Giants’ recent shortstop instability, providing both offensive power and defensive reliability. In the 2024 season with the Milwaukee Brewers, he achieved a career-high 32 home runs and 112 RBIs, batting .251.
Manager Bob Melvin welcomed Adames’ positive influence, noting, “It always looked like every day was opening day to him. That enthusiasm when your best players are like that… it’s easy for everybody to have to fall in and play in that type of style.”
Adames’ leadership qualities and dedication to professionalism are expected to inspire the Giants’ roster, as the team aims to return to championship contention.
