An Open Letter from Wide Receiver Coy Eakin
To the Texas Tech Community, Texas fans, and my supporters across the NFL,
I want to address my recent suspension by the NFL for two games and share my thoughts with all of you who have stood by me through every challenge and victory.
First, I take full responsibility for my actions that led to this suspension. As an athlete, I understand the privilege and responsibility of representing my team, my school, and the communities that have shaped me. The NFL has standards we all must uphold, and I regret falling short of those expectations.
To the fans and supporters of Texas Tech and Texas football, your passion and unwavering support have been the foundation of my journey. I have always strived to represent our community with pride and determination. This incident is a setback, but it does not define me or the principles I hold dear.
To my teammates and coaches, I owe you more than words can express. I deeply regret the distraction this situation may have caused. I promise to work tirelessly to regain your trust and continue contributing to our collective goals.
This moment has been a humbling learning experience, one that has reinforced my commitment to being a better player, teammate, and individual. I am grateful for the NFL’s process, which ensures accountability while allowing growth.
To all the young athletes and fans watching, let this be a lesson that mistakes, while inevitable, are opportunities for growth. How we respond to adversity defines our character, and I am determined to emerge stronger from this.
Thank you for your understanding, your forgiveness, and your continued support. I will do everything in my power to make you proud on and off the field.
Sincerely,
Coy Eakin
