After years of inexperience at quarterback, the Pittsburgh Steelers have finally found their man in 2024 in veteran Russell Wilson, who has stabilised the position and proven to be a significant upgrade for the offence.

The Steelers actually brought in two signal-callers who have been effective thus far, as Justin Fields did an excellent job weathering the storm while Wilson was absent due to injury. While Fields did not perform as well as Wilson, he was still able to lead the Steelers to a winning record (4-2) until Wilson returned.

But here’s the thing: Wilson and Fields are free agents in 2025 and are not guaranteed to return. Even if Wilson recovers as predicted, the Steelers may want to start planning for the future, as he will be 37 next year. With all of that in mind, Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine predicts that the Steelers will select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Dart had a solid 2024 season, completing 68.6% of his passes for 3,875 yards and 25 touchdowns with six interceptions. He has also demonstrated his mobility by adding 452 rushing yards and three scores on the ground. Dart completed 64.9% of his throws for 11,566 yards and 77 touchdowns to 27 interceptions throughout his collegiate career, while also gaining 1,498 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground. Here’s more on the Ole Miss standout from Dame Parson of Bleacher Report.

“Jaxson Dart possesses the physical skills necessary to be a productive starting quarterback. His ability to vary the tempo of his passes will translate effectively in the league. He is more than glad to accept the cheque down below. Dart will need time to learn and adjust to an NFL offensive system.

According to Parson’s final phrase, Dart would be entering a great situation in Pittsburgh, where he could sit behind Wilson for a year or two to grow before taking over the offence once the veteran signal-caller leaves.
