Breaking news: the Montreal Canadiens have exercised the option on head coach Martin St.

Louis’ contract, securing his position for the next three seasons, through 2026-2027 ¹ ² ³.

This decision was announced back in April 2024 by General Manager Kent Hughes, who expressed confidence in St. Louis’ ability to lead the team forward ¹ ² ³.

 

St. Louis, a Hockey Hall of Famer, took the reins as interim head coach in February 2022 and officially became the 32nd head coach in franchise history on June 1, 2022 ¹.

With a 75-100-26 record under his belt, St. Louis brings valuable experience and expertise to the team ¹.

 

As a player, St. Louis had an impressive 16-year NHL career, earning 1,033 points (391 goals, 642 assists) with the Calgary Flames, Tampa Bay Lightning, and New York Rangers ³.

He won the Stanley Cup with the Lightning in 2004 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018 ³.
