Carlos Alcaraz and Yannick Siner are both trying to recover quickly for the 2024 French Open, but both have struggled with injuries playing on clay and neither player has won a clay court title until winning a clay major.
Alcraz has faced health issues all season – he injured his ankle during the Rio Open in February and was forced to withdraw just minutes into his first round match.
The Spanish people protected the success of the Indian Wells title and later created the Quarter Finals in Miami. He was injured by the forearms with the contribution of Monte Carlo’s master and withdrawn from the tournament.
That also prevented him from defending his title with Barcelona.
The Spaniard returned to defend his crown in Madrid but lost in the quarter-finals. Unfortunately, this aggravated his injury and he subsequently withdrew from the Italian Open.
Sinner has been in great form this year, winning title after title. He won his first major title at the Australian Open, as well as titles in Rotterdam and Miami.
A semi-final appearance at the Monte Carlo Masters was a good start to his clay court career, but then Sinner suffered a hip injury during the Madrid Open and withdrew before the quarter-finals.
This meant they missed out on the Italian Open.
If they’re in good form, these two youngsters could be heavy favourites to win Roland Garros.
Even if their participation is uncertain, the two are recovering and could travel to Paris within the next few days.
Carlos Alcaraz was recently spotted training at his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero’s academy wearing protective gear on his injured forearm.
The current Wimbledon champion’s coach recently posted a training video.
