Ahead of Alabama football vs. Georgia Saturday, coach Kalen DeBoer gave updates on the status of safety Malachi Moore and linebacker Qua Russaw, who were both injured during the Crimson Tide’s 42-10 win against Wisconsin Sept. 14.
Prior to the start of the 2024 season, the SEC instituted that teams must publicize injury reports starting Wednesday night before a Saturday conference game. Updates will be submitted Thursday and Friday before a final report is released 90 minutes before kickoff.
No. 4 Alabama will take on No. 1 Georgia at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
Here’s the latest on Russaw, Moore and other Alabama players navigating injuries.
DeBoer said Monday that Russaw (lower leg) is “still taking the steps, still working through the situation.” He said he’s “optimistic.”
Russaw left Alabama’s win against Wisconsin late in the second quarter after his left ankle was rolled over by a teammate. He did not return.
Moore (head) should be back against Georgia, per DeBoer.
“It was just a matter of time,” DeBoer said.
